Those of you that have animals be aware and please pass this on to your neighbors.Notice that one attack was on Labs – they are not afraid of big dogs!
Please be aware that there were 2 coyote attacks in Cameron Wood in the last 14 days. In the first a coyote jumped a fence at approx. 5:30-6 pm and attacked a small dog. In the second, a coyote attacked a labrador at 4pm and the owner fought it off. The coyote was tracked and killed by Animal Control and is being tested for rabies. The owner is receiving treatment. Both dogs were up to date on their rabies vaccines. There is a known pack of coyotes in the McMullen Creek area where these homes back up to.
Animal Control and CMPD have been contacted, and are working with the NC Div of Wildlife Mgmt re: a followup plan, and per Sgt Perdue of our South Division, will be setting up a community meeting.
